Inconvenient and dangerous

Here are the streets on which I saw pedestrians walking in the roadway between 5:30 and 6:00 tonight and last night:

  • Beacon
  • Needham
  • Centre/Winchester (near the Route 9 overpass)
  • Parker
  • Washington
I hate to play the danger card. With regard to pedestrian issues, I think there's a much lower threshold that the city should aim for: comfort and convenience.

But, there is no question that it is a serious safety issue when the sidewalks get so little attention that people are walking in the streets with moderate-to-heavy traffic in the early hours of darkness.

You can add Hammond Street between Route 9 and the Chestnut Hill T Stop and on toward Beacon Street. Some parts of the sidewalks on Hammond Street were plowed, but then the street plows came along and pushed heaps of snow onto the sidewalk!!!

My personal pet peeve is with the people who pay to have their driveways plowed but can't be bothered to get their walks shovelled - how selfish can you get???

You can add Adams Street to that too. With pedestrians (like myself) walking down that narrow road, there's only room for 1 car to pass at a time. I got splashed w/snow all the time too =(
