Creative re-use of granite curbing, a few boulders, some trees and, voila, one Newton Centre Summer Seating plaza! Credit to DPW for doing all the heavy lifting.
The location is not ideal. It would be nice to have this kind of space without having to cross the street. But, son and daughter of NS&S had a ball running around, climbing and jumping, and enjoying their ice cream.
A quick reminder of what the space looked like before the transformation ...

There is a much nicer area, grass, benches, etc., at the other end of that parking lot.
The mini park is a great idea, but it looks very unappealing. One piece of broken Jersey barrier, a few boulders, and trees in garish plastic pots, do not make for an attractive park. Can't the city do better than this?
I like this concept, the location is fun (near the ice cream!), the seating is fairly nice and I like the decorative boulders -- but I wish you would take better care of those poor little trees! It's good to have potted trees there but they need more TLC.
Also -- not shown in the pictures is the big chunk of granite curbing that had been in that section of the parking lot for months, after a snow plow dislodged it this past winter. I think that was removed shortly after the other boulders went out there. Good concept, needs work.
